Let's Go Over This Again:

I knew I was bad with money, but I had no idea I was this bad. (and in this case, please feel free to use the Michael Jackson interpretation of the word)

1) Power Bill - Paid 3 times this money, balance= negative $102.00

2) Cable Bill - The bill online says that I owe $166, but when I check my current balance, the bill is $6.83, which I paid, immediately.

3) Laptop Bill - This is the most confusing. So, I bought a laptop in January, on credit, through the stores retail credit system, through a 3rd party bank. Since purchasing the laptop, I was making payments on the credit to the bank in question, up until the last payment which was a few weeks ago. Recently, I got a slip of paper saying that the bank rejected the last payment. Fearing the worst (NSF), I called the bank, only to find out that the credit was paid, in full, in April, and that the balance was now $0. I called the head corporation to double check this, after going through my bank statements, which did not uncover a $1300 payment in April. They said the same thing. I decided to not look a potentially gift horse in the mouth, and say "Okay, then, I'd like to close the account, seeing as how I no longer owe you any money.", and hung up the phone.

So, what happened? It is possible that I paid of the credit, but unless I have a disassociative disorder, I do not remember having a spare grand hanging around that I could pay off the debt in full. Now, the company who sold me the computer has closed up shop. I can't exactly remember when it was, but I wonder if they paid off the bank on their retail accounts? Could it be they paid off my computer? I have no idea, but I believe that unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that both my financial and karmic banks are now at 0, and maybe even a little in the black.

Depending on why the company closed up shop, it is more than possible that they paid off your computer. You can't make payments to a company that no longer exists.
I agree with not looking a gift horse in the mouth. It seems to me that you've made enough inquiries that, even if the bank decides they have made some sort of error, you cannot be held liable.
I've never paid my hydro bill 3 times over, but my old house did have two hydro meters (which meant I got two hydro bills each month) and frequently would make two payments against one account and forget about the other one. This resulted in ontario hydro threatening to turn off half of the power to my house.

Which half?

see, I would have felt momentarily bad, but I would have done the same thing. Friends of my sister had their line of credit confused, and in their honesty and whatever, rather than just saying, ok, great, thanks Bank for not having ANY RECORD of the account, off we go...they said, ok, but we had an account, and we owed money. So the bank opened up a new account for them with approximately the same balance owing as their closed and forgotten one. WTF.

Nonono, that is just STUPID. Do they have ANY IDEA the types of profits banks make? It's outrageous? I do feel momentarily guilty, but that's more about suspecting that it will one day come back to bite me in the ass.
